Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has vehemently denied reports linking his government to ferrying of human waste to ODM offices and Nyamira County Assembly grounds where Cord leader Raila Odinga held a public rally few weeks ago.
A number of county leaders led by West Mugirango MP James Gesami had accused the governor of ferrying human waste due to his strained relationship with county ODM officials.
In an exclusive interview on Sunday, Nyagarama dismissed the claims and called for thorough investigations into the matter, which he termed as "shameful and uncouth".
“I have heard such nonsense (ferrying of human waste) and I really think those linking me to such inhumane, shameful and uncouth conduct are misplaced. I am a leader and I don’t think I would do that to my guest Raila Odinga,” he said.
“We may be having some minor differences among us but it could not amount to ferrying human waste to ODM offices and assembly grounds. It’s unfortunate that people are linking me to such improper conduct and I want the officials to investigate the matter and vindicate me,” he said.
Nyagarama called for unity among party members and urged officials not to be distracted by ‘external’ forces that were out to spark feud between them.
“We are all in ODM and unity is mandatory. It’s unfair that officials are being swayed by rumors from our rivals who are out to see us quarreling all the time. We must remain united,” he added.
Nyamarama will be seeking reelection on an ODM ticket, but the game may be twisted following the latest entry of Gesami, who doubles as county ODM chairperson.
