Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama was ‘inconsistent’ when addressing leaders meeting during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s meeting to the region, a source privy to the meeting has revealed.
Nyagarama, who had earlier on been booed at Kebirigo was tasked to chair the leaders meeting at Ekerubo Gietai where leaders had the opportunity to share their grievances with Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
According to the source, Nyagarama was unable to separate county government functions and those still under national government.
“The Governor was very inconsistent when asked by the president to table a few issues which they needed his government fix. He was tense and appeared to be out of touch completely,” said the source.
“For instance, he asked for construction of more ECDE classes which is basically under his jurisdiction and also asked for funds for upgrading of local dispensaries which is also a devolved function,” added the source.
The source also claimed that Nyagarama was persistently interrupted with the head of state who kept reminding him that some of the functions were under the county government.
“He was interrupted on three occasions by the president who asked him to go straight to the point. He was only aided by Ben Momanyi who challenged the President to address the infrastructural development and tea farming predicament,” said the source.
But Nyagarama, through the County Secretary has dismissed the claims as ‘political’ propaganda and cautioned opponents against making baseless claims.
“Those are merely political propaganda because the Governor called for support in tea and coffee farming and also improved roads. It’s sometimes good to work with facts and not propagandas,” he said.
