Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has received unlikely support from hundreds of university and colleges students selected from North Mugirango constituency.
Nyagarama has been under severe criticism from the youthful population who has before accused him of maladministration and bad governance.
Led by Gusii Youth President John Otao on Sunday at Ekerenyo grounds, the youths lauded the county boss for the exceptional record on roads, health, agriculture and youth dockets.
“It’s true we have been having issues with the county government but the Governor took them positively and that's I why we have seen some tremendous progress in several sectors such as roads, agriculture and even the youth docket,” he said.
“The most important thing is that he has listened to some of our concerns and rectified where he had gone wrong and that is good leadership. We also know that he will roll out the county bursaries soon and as university students, we back him fully for reelection,” he said.
Nyagarama is facing a titanic competition from West Mugirango MP James Gesami, Jomo Kenyatta Foundation chair Walter Nyambati and a host of other candidates.
He is also expected to face a tough contest for the ODM primaries from Gesami who doubles as the county ODM chairman.
