Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has blamed the collapsing of buildings in the country to greedy owners who flout construction rules.
"You get accreditation to construct five floors, how do you go ahead constructing 10 using poor materials intentionally? You must be held responsible for the lost lives," noted Nyagarama on Wednesday.
The county boss was referring to the Kisii tragedy where a 10-storey building under construction collapsed killing nine, leaving several others with serious injuries.
On Wednesday the owner of the building surrendered himself to the police and he will be arraigned in court on Thursday.
Nyagarama made the remarks at Manga stadium in Kitutu Masaba constituency during the county's 4th devolution conference .
