Youths from Nyamira County have been hailed for their maturity in handling issues that directly affect them in matters governance and development.
Governor John Nyagarama who hosted the youths in a breakfast meeting on Wednesday expressed his satisfaction with youths in engaging the county government on matters that directly affect them.
Mr Nyagarama urged youths to engage their leaders positively by raising pertinent issues through recognised channels for efficient and expeditious solutions.
He challenged the younger generation to shun hard political stands and urged them to correlate well with the local leadership for prosperity of the county.
“I am one leader who is impressed with the way youths have been working with us. Following the right channels and asking questions for proper guidance has been among your top agendas and I thank you for that. Maintaining hard political lines will not help the county prosper,” he said.
He warned youths against working with politicians who have no interest of the county residents at heart as a way of promoting modern leadership.
“I think these politicians who maneuver around campaigning and attacking my leadership should learn from you. Whenever there is a problem, I expect them to provide solutions like you have done,” Mr Nyagarama added.
He said his government has rolled out plans in both the department of youths and decentralised units to empower youth agendas in the region.
“You are aware of our program in the youths and devolution department. The county is always ready to assist those who venture into businesses and those exceptionally talented in co-curricular activities,” he said.
