Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has yet again been accused of tampering with the itinerary of Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga, who is set to tour the county Thursday morning.
Last year, Nyagarama diverted landing of Odinga’s chopper from Nyamira grounds to Ekerenyo, contrary to initial agreements with other local leaders.
On Thursday, Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire maintained that Odinga was scheduled to land at Ekerenyo before proceeding to Nyamira for a rally but the events have since changed.
According to ODM officials led by Dennis Marube, Nyagarama has diverted yet again Odinga’s landing to Gesima, contrary to Wednesday’s agreement.
“I have just leant this morning that he is landing in my constituency yet we agreed the venue to be at Ekerenyo. The governor has again done it without consultation,” said Bosire.
“Nonetheless, this is a voter mobilization exercise and hopefully our people will not be sabotaged by the latest changes. We advise our supporters to come in large numbers,” he added.
Efforts to reach the governor and his senior protocol team were futile since none could pick calls for clarification. Odinga is scheduled to tour Nyamira and Kisii Counties today.
