Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama is yet again in hot soup, this time around, from a civil society group which has demanded all county transactions since 2013.

The Nyamira County Development Forum through representatives Gerald Aming’a and Alice Oeri, has demanded that the county submits all suppliers, contractors, tenders awarded, financial records and money received from the national government.

The group has petitioned Governor John Nyagarama through Charles Ongoto and Company Advocates.

The officials have also demanded to be issued with the list of all projects funded by the county, all employees hired since the devolved governments came into place and all cases of corruption that have ever been presented to the Governor’s office.

“Our clients are concerned that since you came to office, there has been acute and chronic corruption in the county which you have ignored despite being aware of it,” reads part of the petition.

“There is evidence that some regions have been marginalised and you haven’t provided a solution as the county CEO. Our clients feel that you should take responsibility for the matter and respond,” adds the notice.

Nyagarama has been given a seven-day ultimatum to respond to the issues or risk legal action.

The petition comes barely a week after a similar one was tabled in the Senate for discussion.
