Nyagarama has been facing criticisms from a section of residents who accuse him of favouritism in the county jobs and tendering for a long time now.

Speaking on Thursday  during an interview on Egesa FM, Nyagarama dismissed his critics as ‘petty’ saying he was neither responsible for employment nor tendering.

“They (critics) are being unfair to me. They understand that we have (County) Public Service Board which is independent and decides who is fit or not. I don’t not seat in the board therefore it’s unfair to drag my name to such discussions,” he said.

“Sometimes I think they are petty because they understand the law. Tendering is done by a committee which I also don’t participate in its proceedings. It’s not right to say I favour people in committees which I am not a member,” said the ODM Governor.

On corruption, Nyagarama said the county has been working closely with the EACC and the recently released reports by the commission ranked it among the least corruption counties.

“We are working closely with the EACC and I am happy that we were ranked among the most little corrupt counties in the list that was released by EACC (42). My government doesn’t tolerate corruption,” he said.

“As Governor, the law ties us from sacking corrupt officials. We only request them to step aside because we have constitutional bodies empowered to handle corruption,” he said.

He also said there was a possibility that his relatives are employed in Nyamira County since they are official residents in the county.

“There is a possibility that some of my relatives are employed in the County because they also come from Nyamira. The fact that I am Governor doesn’t not deprive them a right to be employed,” he said.
