Speaking to Hivisasa.com on Wednesday, they claimed that Governor John Nyagarama promised to repair the road over a year ago, but nothing has been done so far.

They said that transporting farm produce to the nearby Kebirigo market has become hectic, adding that the condition is worsening due to the ongoing rains in the region.

“We are giving the county leadership a week from now to clear the mess. This situation is deteriorating and it is becoming impossible for us to safely transport our farm produce to the market,” said Cornelius Manani.

“It is so shameful that the governor can promise us to rectify the situation but for over a year now, nothing concrete has been done. If they don’t rectify the situation, we will hold a demonstration to ask him to step down,” added Victor Nyasani.

They also said the menace was not only affecting farming in the area but also leading to hiking of fare by matatu and boda boda operators.

“As much as it is cumbersome to transport farm produce especially tea, motorists have also taken and advantage to exploit innocent passengers. It is really sad and we need an urgent help,” added Mr Nyasani.
