Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has ordered a probe into an incident in which two senior county officers are alleged to have exchanged blows last week on Tuesday.
Addressing journalists at his residence, Nyagarama said he had directed the County Public Service Board (CPSB) to form a tribunal that will investigate the claims and report the findings to him within two days.
"I have today tasked the CPSB to form a disciplinary tribunal to investigate the fighting allegations between the County Secretary Eric Onchana and Health Chief Officer Douglas Bosire. I expect to receive the report in two days," said Nyagarama.
However, this move has raised eyebrows from his critiques who argue that the two officers should step aside to pave way for investigations as per the law.
On Saturday, Senator Kennedy Mongare called for the stepping aside of the implicated officials saying their continued stay in office is against the constitution on matters integrity.
The two officials have since denied the allegations terming them as malice and propaganda aimed at dividing the county ahead of the 2017 general election.
They made the remarks during a joint news briefing on Friday last week.
