Nyagarama said Wednesday there was need for parents to counsel their children since cases of arson in schools may be as a result bad morals in learners.

"Some of the parents have totally failed in their responsibilities of counselling their children. These children when they reach a certain age tend to be uncontrollable and so if they are not counselled in good time, they may copy funny character traits that you cannot control. It is better you sit down with them as a parent and counsel them," said the county boss.

Nyagarama further linked the current wave of arson in schools to bad morals in children further saying the burden of repairing the burnt institutions solely belong to parents and not teachers.

"These schools that are being burnt down don't belong to teachers and if they are destroyed, it is the parents who suffer for you must pay for the same so it much better that you must guide your children to embrace good morals," added Nyagarama.

His remarks echoes Education CS Fred Matiang'i who in June directed that parents be asked to pay for the destruction students cause in their schools when they go on the rampage.
