Nyagarama had launched the Governor’s dialogue recently, a programme poised to help him have a direct engagement with county residents over developmental agenda.

The source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the Governor was concerned with ‘intelligence’ reports that had indicated a section of residents had been incited to disrupt the event.

“The Governor’s dialogue has been cancelled because intelligence reports indicate that some few politicians have already hired goons to make the ground hostile for him. He could not risk the embarrassment and that is why he had to cancel the trip to Ekerenyo,” said the source.

“Though it will be held soon, we also have to go there and prepare the ground by countering those opposing the Governor. They are well known politicians led by a senior leader from North Mugirango,” added the source.

Ekerenyo MCA Thaddeus Nyabaro confirmed late cancellation of the Governor’s trip to his ward, but declined to give reasons that necessitated the unprecedented move since a good sum had reportedly been spend by the event organisers.

“I have also been notified over the same but I am not privy to hostility details. All I know we had planned and I haven’t been given any reason to that effect,” he said.

Efforts to get a confirmation from the Governor’s office were futile since he could not be reached for comment.
