Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has asked Kisii County leaders spearheading the so-called Gusii unity to first resolve wrangles among themselves before thinking of uniting the entire community.
Nyagarama also accused former CIC chairman Charles Nyachae of misleading Nyamirans that he invited leaders from the county during an event at Otamba in Kisii County last month where the unity call was mooted.
Leaders from Nyamira have since distanced themselves from the initiative saying the county was sidelined.
On Friday during a prize-giving ceremony at Sironga Girls High School, Nyachae claimed leaders from Nyamira were invited, remarks that were dismissed by Nyamira County Assembly leader of majority Laban Masira who also present.
"I don't know if others were invited but I have no information concerning the whole drama," Nyagarama told journalists on Friday evening at his Nyamira residence.
Nyagarama asked leaders from Kisii County to stop ridiculing the Omogusii community and if they indeed want unity, then they should start by uniting the so much divided Kisii county leaders first.
"Have they sold the idea to their other leaders who are not in the league like Prof Sam Ongeri, Janet Ong'era, Omingo Magara and the rest before they think of the larger Gusii. How can you unite the whole of Gusii when you can't unite even your own constituency? "posed Nyagarama.
