Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama snubbed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tour to various regions across his territory with reports indicating that he had travelled to Nairobi to meet opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Although it is not clear whether elected leaders were invited in Uhuru’s functions, only Boranu MP Ben Momanyi (Wiper) accompanied the presidential convoy.

Most elected leaders from the county belong to ODM party, which is keen to neutralize Jubilee’s penetration to the region.

“He is in Nairobi and was supposed to meet Odinga. I am not aware of any invitation given to him,” said George Momanyi, a close ally of the governor.

Earlier, fiery Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire also confirmed that he was not aware of the presidential tour to his constituency.

“I am in Canada attending a PAC session. I am told that the President will be coming to my constituency. He should learn to invite elected leaders on matters development,” he said.

Despite the snub by ODM leader, Uhuru traversed the vast county and held well attended public rallies at Magwagwa and Magombo regions.

He was hosted by Jubilee local leaders among them former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati and outgoing EALA MP Joseph Kiangoi.
