Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has noted that the most affected people in society with climate changes are the poor. Speaking in Nyamusi division,North Mugirango constituency during celebrations to mark World Food Day on Monday, Nyagarama said the poor depend on the produce from their small farms and when climate change occurss, they get low yields which cannot sustain their families. The county boss noted that unlike the rich who easily find alternatives in times of scarcity, the vulnerable die of hunger because the available food is always beyond their reach. "We have improved modern methods of farming to enable vulnerable farmers to produce enough food to sustain them during the dry season. We supplied them with local vegetable solar driers to ensure the harvested vegetables stay long as well as beehives for honey farmers who are now raking in good money and can exchange for other foodstuff,"said Nyagarama. He advised farmers to embrace modern farming technologies and seek advice from his office through the Ministry of Agriculture on how to go about their farming  as well as the products that the county supplies such as tissue culture bananas, fish, chicken, high yield maize and fertiliser."You should embrace new technology and also seek advice before you choose the kind of farming you want to ensure you have enough food on the table," said Nyagarama.
