Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has dismissed rumours doing rounds across the county by his rivals that they are responsible for the presence of the Mechanical Trust Fund in the region.
MTF, a State agency, was introduced to Nyamira County in early July by the county boss to work on county roads who said he had been let down by the locals contractors for failing to deliver.
And now Nyagarama says his rivals have been going around saying it's their effort that the national government released the MTF machinery to the county.
Nyagarama who spoke to this writer at his residence on Monday accused his opponent of peddling falsehoods.
"I am the one who championed for the MTF after our local contractors failed to make good roads by doing shoddy work. There were also issues regarding the tendering process," he said.
Nyagarama said his opponents, especially from the Jubilee Party, are feeding residents with wrong information to gain political mileage.
He urged Nyamirans to be careful so as not to hoodwinked by leaders telling lies.
