Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has vowed to attend an ODM rally scheduled on Friday in which former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will address.
Nyagarama is understandably in a strained relationship with top ODM leadership in the county, and has been viewed as a Jubilee friendly governor despite having been sponsored by ODM party.
But in an exclusive interview on Thursday, the county boss said he is a bona fide member of the party, and would attend the function to welcome his party leader.
“I understand the former Prime Minister will be in the county on Friday and as a bona fide member of the party, I will of course attend the rally to listen to him as an ODM member,” he said.
“The minor differences existing between myself and a number of party officials should not be narrowed to such an official function of a respected leader. Having conflicting ideologies doesn’t mean at all that I am working with Jubilee government,” he added.
Nyagarama called for reconciliation among party officials and members saying it will help the party increase its popularity before the 2017 elections.
“Let us forget the past and reconcile for the sake of the party. We want the party to win more votes from Nyamira County and this is the time for all party officials and members puts their differences aside for posterity,” he added.
Nyagarama has been at logger heads with ODM national treasurer Timothy Bosire with the later accusing him of mismanagement. Bosire is the Kitutu Masaba MP.
He has also differed with West Mugirango MP James Gesami who chairs the party at the county level after Mr Gesami declared interest in gubernatorial seat.
