Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama insists that all major road projects in the county will be completed by December this year.
The county boss had earlier cancelled all local tenders and diverted over Sh150 million to the state-owned Mechanical Trust Fund which is currently undertaking road construction across the county.
Speaking on Monday at his offices, Nyagarama challenged contractors who will win tenders on elevating culverts in the roads under construction to expedite the process.
“This is an agricultural county and we must ensure all our roads are passable. That is the main thing and I will ensure that all the roads under construction are done by this December to boost transport,” he said.
“I want to urge the local contractors who will win tenders to put culverts on the already constructed roads to do it expeditiously so that my plan on commissioning all roads remains intact,” he said.
The MTF has already done roads in North Mugirango and West Mugirango constituencies and is currently working in Borabu before moving to Kitutu Masaba later on next month.
