Nyakoni ward MCA, Areba Douglas, has offered to drill a borehole that will serve Nyakoni Sub County.
For now the area is facing water shortage and residents are forced to trek long distances in search of the precious commodity.
“I have brought the contractor and he has assured me that he will be through with the project by the end of this month,” said Areba.
He added that the water will not only be used for domestic purpose but it will also help them to do farming.
"I would like to urge residents to make good use of the water once they get it,” said Arebi.
Martin Moindi a resident said, water has been the main challenge in the area but they are happy that now this will be a thing of the past.
“We are thankful to the MCA for coming up with this water drill idea and we know it will help us,” notes Moindi.
Water shortage in Nyamira County has mainly been contributed by low rainfall.
