The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has communicated to Kenyans to be patient when their prepaid metre tokens are being processed because there is a technical hitch.

This is after many Kenyans have complained online that they are in the dark because processing of electricity bills takes up to more than three days.

However, in what seems to be a solution to the problem, controversial blogger Cyprian Nyakundi has said that there are cartels running the company.

Nyakundi has said that the ‘cartel’ companies stealing from Kenya are Vendit and Dynamo and has since started a trend #BoycottVenditAndDynamo to sensitize Kenyans to stop using their pay bill numbers but instead use the initial KPLC number.

''Alert family and friends that Vendit and Dynamo are cartel companies used by KPLC insiders and the likes of Chris Kirubi to steal from Kenya power customers,” one of Nyakundi’s tweets read.

The big question is why has KPLC directed its customers to pay their prepaid token bills through Vendit and Dynamo pay bill numbers instead of its original 888880?

Nyakundi gave out the pay bill numbers.

“The illegal pay bills robbing Kenyans: 501200-Vendit Limited and 800904 for Dynamo. Keep spreading the word and tell friends and relative to stop enriching cartels,” he said.

Kenyans angry with a national power outage due to a ‘technical hitch’ by KPLC have called on the Mpesa service provider Safaricom to suspend the two pay bill numbers.
