The one week event is being held at the ward office in Katuoro area and is expected to help the many locals who have not registered as voters.

MCA Were said the voter registration exercise is very crucial because most people especially youths have no voters cards.

“A number of youths lack voters’ cards and it is my duty as an elected leader to ensure they acquire the document,” he said.

Were said those who have ID cards but have not registered as voters should take the opportunity.

Speaking during the exercise, Were told locals that voters card is very crucial on deciding the type of leaders they want to elect from the lowest to the highest level.

He said he has partnered with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and other well-wishers to ensure the exercise is a success.

Were said he has got support from Founder of Ogra foundation Dr Hezron McObewa who has promised to ensure the exercise runs longer so that everyone is captured.

“I will continue soliciting for funds from friends and organisations to be able to register more people ahead of 2017 general election,” he said.
