A Nyali parliamentary contender has warned youth against being used by politicians to cause mayhem during campaigns.
Omar Kyalo (Jubilee) at the same time told politicians to invest in youth by assisting them secure money for starting and boosting businesses.
He said youth constitute majority of the population and because they are energetic and some of the desperate in life they become vulnerable to misuse by politicians with ill intentions.
“There is a lot of joblessness among youth in this country. This is a weak point for them because with desperation, young people become vulnerable to misuse. In 2007 majority of people who were at the forefront causing violence were young,” said Kyalo.
Nyali is among constituencies in the country that is anticipated to witness one of the fiercest parliamentary races.
Among aspirants gunning for the MP seat in the constituency include Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s brother Said Abdallah (ODM) and former KTN investigative reporter Mohammed Ali (independent).
Kyalo spoke two days after President Uhuru Kenyatta warned youth against voting for politicians out to cause anarchy.
Uhuru who was campaigning in Nakuru County said his administration in the last close to five years had employed more youth by absorbing them into the National Youth Service as well as the police service and the military.
Kyalo expressed confidence he will win the election in the constituency that overwhelmingly voted for NASA leader Raila Odinga in 2013.
