Nyali Member of Parliament Hezron Awiti has lauded the National Youth Service for relaunching its projects.
The MP said the projects have impacted on the lives of the youth positively.
Speaking on Monday at Frere Town grounds when we hosted the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Youth Affairs Ms Sicily Kariuki and top officials from the National Youth Service, Awiti said the NYS projects have enabled youth in the area engage in meaningful activities that generate income.
"This is one of the projects that has turned the fortunes for youths who were jobless and that is why I asked the National Government through the CS to make it permanent and recruit more youth," he said.
He added, "I am impressed by the statistics given by the CS showing youth in Nyali have saved five million within a period of three months. This is adequate proof that this programme has the potential to transform the youth.”
The legislator promised to work closely with the Ministry to ensure the success of the programme in Nyali and Mombasa County in general.
