Nyali MP Hezron Awiti has pledged to support boda boda operators in Mombasa County by ensuring they run their business with ease.
Adressing journalists Friday shortly after meeting more than 200 boda bodas largely drawn from Changamwe constituency, the legislator noted that the sector plays a critical role in job creation especially among the youth.
"After meeting these young men trying to make ends meet through the boda boda business, I want to commit that I will support them in every way I can," Awiti said.
"This is a very important sector that needs a lot of support. It is employing hundreds of youths who couldn't secure employment elsewhere," he added.
The operators used the opportunity to raise a number of grievances, chief among them insecurity, harassment from traffic police as well as delay in approval of licences by the county government.
