Nyali MP Mohamed Ali has praised President Uhuru Kenyatta for asking for forgiveness from Kenyans over last year’s divisive general election.
Ali says that Uhuru’s plea to Kenyans during his Wednesday joint parliamentary address showed his humility and commitment to unite the country.
Speaking to journalists in Nyali Town on Saturday, the former investigative reporter asked politician’s across the divide to learn from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He said that the country will easily achieve her development goals if leaders commit to unite Kenyans.
“We must learn from what the president is doing and bring our people together for the sake of development,” he said.
The MP also asked leaders across the political divide to stop speculation in regards to the unity deal between the president and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
He said that speculation being peddled around could stall the unity and reconciliation process.
The Nyali lawmaker however asked President Kenyatta to speedily push for unity process.
He said that time is quickly running out and that their is urgent need for unity and serious electoral reforms.
On Wednesday, President Kenyatta asked Kenyans to forgive him and other leaders for failing to stop negative ethnicity during last year’s general election.
The president said that he is committed to unite the country, adding that his deal with Raila was not about the 2022 general election.
