Nyali MP Hezron Awiti has advised Coast leaders interested in the Mombasa County governorship not to ignore the Mijikenda community which forms the largest voting block in the county.

Speaking in Kaloleni Constituency on Friday, the legislator urged the constituents to support him in his bid to unseat Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho in the 2017 general elections.

"The Mijikenda Community which forms the largest single voting block in Mombasa County, cannot be taken for granted," said Awiti.

“That is why I am imploring the Mijikenda to join me in my quest for the governorship of Mombasa County," he added.

The legislator was accompanied by Kaloleni Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Coast Parliamentary Group Mr Gunga Mwinga.
