This comes after a section of residents from the region accused the former leader of hoodwinking them by signing a cheque of a nonexistence facility in the name of a secondary school.

According to the records obtained from the institution’s official visitor’s book, Nyambati issued Sh300,000 in April 2010, before giving an additional Sh100,000 for the construction of a toilet in August 2012 with the officials from CDF office mistaking the facility for a secondary school before the error was rectified.

Constituency CDF manager Amos Apollo confirmed the error and ruled out any incident of money that was reportedly lost through a ghost project.

“I want to confirm that no money was lost in the said project. We had earlier on indicated that it was a secondary school but the error was rectified by my team to indicate a primary school,” Apollo said.

Nyambati, who spoke to the reporter later on Friday accused his opponents for ‘imagining’ scandals to taint his reputation.

“Honestly it is not easy for someone to issue a cheque to a non-existing project because auditing must be done before and after. The information being spread is just but an imagination of some people who want to taint my name ever since I declared my interest for Nyamira gubernatorial seat. I have never been corrupt,” he said.
