Aspiring Nyamira Governor Walter Nyambati has vehemently condemned rising insecurity incidents in North Mugirango and called for establishment of a police post to beef up security in the region.
This comes after a man identified as Geoffrey Kamonde and his wife from Bokeira ward were brutally murdered and subsequent burning of their two children who are since recuperating at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.
The former Kitutu Masaba MP on Wednesday confirmed having written to Interior Minister Joseph Nkaissery and Nyamira County Commissioner Josephine Onunga on need establish a police station at Bokeira.
“I strongly condemn the recent killings at North Mugirango which is a big shock to our county. We cannot allow our people to die carelessly yet the government can provide security. I hope the situation will be combated with constant patrols by the offices that will be stationed there,” he said.
He also challenged the office of the county commissioner and area police to bring perpetrators to book for the sake of justice.
“It’s annoying that some people can vandalize a homestead, kill two people and even set children ablaze and go unpunished. We want action to be taken by security personnel as soon as possible,” he said.
Nyambati also called for creation of many sub locations to limit the geographical size that makes it impossible for local administrators to execute their responsibilities effectively.
“I want also to put to task the government to come up with more sub locations in the region so that assistant chiefs get the ability to effectively patrol their region,” he said.
