Walter Nyambati, chair of Jomo Kenyatta Foundation and aspiring Governor in Nyamira County has condemned the state of insecurity in Nyamira county.
In a post he made on Wednesday morning on a whatsap group (Nyamira Youth Council), Nyambati expressed sadness and sorrow in what has been going on in the county.
"I am saddened by the state of insecurity in North Mogirango constituency in our county especially in North Mugirango Bokeira ward. The recent attacks by unknown gangs to our people should be condemned by the strongest words possible. Alongside respect to human rights, security should be another greatest assurance by the government to the people," read the post.
This comes after the continued criminal activities in the area, after two men were killed in Nyamusi market last month, and the ruthless and horrific murder a family last week in Bokeira Ward.
"I have this morning written to the Nyamira County commissioner and called the Cabinet secretary in charge of Security to bring to their attention of the urgent need of an extra police post in Bokeira ward at either Kebobora, Matongo or Nyakaranga villages. I have asked the commissioner in my letter to increase the number of police officers in the area, increase the number of locations and sub locations to concentrate and intensify security measures," added the post.
He further noted that he has also asked the Nyamira OCPD and OCS to ensure they schedule constant patrols in the area, especially from Nyamusi to Nyakaranga, Orwaki, Chabera and to Matongo.
