Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Chair Walter Nyambati is keen to woo leading Nyamira County gubernatorial aspirants for a common nomination as a tactic of narrowing down the number of aspirants, a source close to him has confirmed.
Nyambati, a former Kitutu Masaba MP joined the tight race earlier this year and is expected to tussle with incumbent John Nyagarama, ODM favorite Charles Mochama, Retired Justice David Onyancha , Dr William Nyakiba, Mwancha Okioma and Evans Misati.
According to the source, Nyambati is confident of luring Onyancha, Nyakiba, Misati and Okioma to JAP where he is confident of beating them in nominations to get their backing.
“He is a serious contender whom you cannot write off. He is finalising on wooing serious contenders like Nyakiba, Onyancha, Misati and Okioma to JAP where they will battle for a nomination ticket,” the source said.
“He will use his longtime tactics in politics to win the JAP ticket and that will compel his JAP nominations competitors to back him. This means he will have support from top candidates who will by them have dropped out of the race after losing in JAP nominations,” added the source who spoke on condition of anonymity since he is not authorized to speak on behalf of the long serving politician.
The source also intimated that Nyambati will field candidates from strongholds of his competitors to divide the votes in his favour as his final plan to clinch gubernatorial seat.
“I want to promise that it won’t be business as usual because he (Nyambati) will sponsor gubernatorial candidates from strongholds of his competitors to split votes in his favour and finally get an easy way out to gubernatorial seat,” the source said.
