There is relieve for Nyamira residents after the county assembly unanimously passed a motion for their regular cancer screening.
Kiabonyoru ward rep James Sabwengi who tabled the motion said there has been a rise in cancer deaths in the county, therefore an urgent need for screening which will help patients start early treatment thus reduce deaths.
"Mr Speaker, our people are dying like flies and we are here seated without any step. We must do something to save our electorate," said Sabwengi.
The members agreed that the devolved unit to sets aside a budget which will enable residents to undergo free regular cancer tests, detection and early treatment.
