The county assembly of Nyamira has denied allegations of skewed employment by the County Assembly Service Board that is under the leadership of speaker Joash Nyamoko.

In a heated debate on the motion that was tabled by Buttah Omanga of Bogichora on Monday that linked the board directly with skewed employment in which members were accused of taking bribes from applicants to various jobs, majority of the members denounced the motion terming it ‘improperly crafted to taint its image’.

According to Omanga, a section of members of the public were complaining on the alleged skewed hiring of staff to the assembly, citing positions that were advertised in June.

“The image of this assembly and the board at large is in question and I want to seek answers herein. We cannot not be accused of skewed employment yet the leadership of the house has questions to the concerns,” Omanga said.

However, the MCAs, led by Alfayo Mwongeresa accused Omanga of allegedly plotting to taint the name of the assembly, following his ouster as the leader of majority.

“We cannot come and discus non issues here. The sponsor of the motion to discuss the conduct of the board is clearly trying to revenge following his ouster. The motion doesn’t hold waters and therefore we are not ready to discuss it,” he said.

Nyamoko defended the board from the allegations and urged the sponsor of the motion to serve the house with documentary evidence before the motion is debated on the floor of the house.
