The Assembly is set to discuss a deficit in the budget, which has brought confusions in the county bursaries allocations.

According to Gesima MCA Ken Atuti, the executive could not account for at least Sh60m meant for bursaries, despite MCAs given application forms to dispatch.

“It’s true that we requested the speaker to call a special sitting to enable us discuss deficits in the budget committee. We are being given bursary forms yet there is no enough money,” he told the reporter on phone.

“The executive can only afford Sh60m of the Sh118m we had agreed. They even conformed that the money had been set aside and that is why we want to know what exactly transpired,” added Atuti.

According to the county bursary legislation which was authenticated by the Controller of Budget, the county was to use at least 5 percent of the entire budget for bursaries.
