Nyamira town boda boda operators have a reason to smile after their Sacco received Sh500,000 from area gubernatorial aspirant Dr. Evans Nyatigo to boost their Savings and Credit cooperative.
Nyatigo said that he is now looking forward to seeing each boda boda operator receive an affordable loan from the Sacco, so that they can empower themselves economically.
Speaking at Nyamira town while issuing the cheques, on Wednesday evening, Nyatigo said the Sacco was now open to all and predicted that the organization would soon grow into a micro finance institution.
“Traders from all walks of life are now invited to join the Sacco which with such a sound capital base is in a position to serve them satisfactorily,” he said.
He added that his government will be supportive to the Sacco and ensure they start up many projects that will help the members
“It is the little things that we do every day that make a difference in our economic condition like the boda boda sector,” he added.
He said his aim was to economically empower youths and women through formation of rural Saccos.
