The Nyamira County Commissioner Mrs. Josephine Onung’a has called on the area chiefs and their assistants to be in the frontline in ensuring security by making sure that they know all the people residing in their areas.
Speaking in Nyamira town, she also called on the people to work together with these leaders by giving information on suspected criminals.
She said that there is a lot of criminal activities in the locations and sub-locations because the chief and their assistants do not perform their duties as required and also do not investigate thoroughly on the conduct of the residents in their areas.
“I want to ask all the chiefs, you must ensure you know all the people residing in your location and know the exact number of people in each home. And to the residents whenever you see anything suspicious please report to us,” she said.
She added that there is need for the chiefs and their assistants to come together and join hands with the residents to help fight crime.
She urged the parents to be in the frontline in educating their children and showing them how to embrace good behavior as one way of reducing crime.
