A first year male student at a Nyamira based college is nursing wounds inflicted by his girlfriend who allegedly stabbed him with a knife in what appeared to be love gone sour.

The student identified as Eric was hospitalised in Nyamira Hospital with wounds inflicted by his girlfriend on Wednesday evening.

He said he wanted to get better and continue with his studies and wished that neither the university management nor his parents got wind of what happened.

According to a neighbour, the man had knocked on the door of his girlfriend’s room persistently for one hour but she did not open because he sounded ‘drunk’.

She explained that the victim forced his way into the lady’s room and started fighting her. But the lady did not take the beatings hands down. She retaliated by stabbing him with a knife.

She revealed that the two have had a turbulent relationship and have often argued and fought though it was not expected to get to what happened on the fateful day.

“Though they have been a troubled ‘couple’, none of us ever thought things would ever get this ugly one day,” said the witness who didn’t want her name revealed.

The student who was stabbed however, denied allegations of being drunk and said he has never taken alcohol or any other drugs in his life.

The doctor who had attended to him confirmed he was taken to the hospital at around 1 am.
