Two top county officials are alleged to have exchanged blows outside Governor John Nyagarama's residence Tuesday evening over intimidation claims.
A source who spoke to this writer said the two, County Secretary Eric Onchana and Health Services Chief Officer Douglas Bosire engaged in a fist fight after attending a meeting at the Governor's home which went till late in the night.
He said the Chief Officer accused the County Secretary of setting him up with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate his department over alleged misappropriation of funds and rogue procurements.
Bosire termed the move as witch hunt, saying he was being targeted by Onchana by using the EACC to intimidate him.
"They came from the Governor's residence and they were talking at each other and immediately they stepped out, a fight ensued with Bosire saying Onchana was using the EACC to intimidate him in performing his duties. They were separated by a police officer manning the Governor's residence," added the source.
However, on Wednesday evening, the two and other Executive Committee Members (ECMs) were holed up in an arbitration meeting that lasted for over five hours.
The meeting which ended at 9pm, the source added, was chaired by the ECM for Public Administration and Coordination of Decentralized Units Andrew Ombati.
And speaking to this reporter, Onchana denied any physical fight, adding that everything was under control.
"I want to tell you that everything now is under control and that there was nothing like fighting yesterday (Tuesday)," he said.
The County Secretary, however, admitted the presence of EACC officials in the devolved unit, saying they were investigating some of the health projects across the county.
Efforts to reach Bosire to comment on the matter were fruitless as he neither picked calls nor responded to text messages from this writer.
