Nyamira County government has set aside Sh1 billion for the development of various projects in the financial year 2014/15.
The money is set to be used to start new projects as well as in the completion of projects which stalled during the last financial year 2013/14.
Speaking at his office in Nyamira on Tuesday, County Secretary Eric Aori said the department of Transport, Roads and public works will take the lion’s share of Sh312 million in the finances set for development projects in the county.
“The county government has set aside Sh1 billion meant for development across the county and to complete all the projects started and those that did not complete in the previous financial year with the transport, roads and public works taking a bigger share of the money for development,” said Aori.
“We, the County of Nyamira want to reach the standards of other counties that have developed and do much more than them to ensure that the people of Nyamira’s needs are met by delivering to our promise,” he said.
Some of the projects include the construction of the county executive headquarter offices, acquisition of road machinery for the county, construction of a parking bay, and the completion of murraming of 34 access roads across the county.
