The two have reportedly differed on management of the county, with Nyaribo persistently accusing his boss of inability to curb ‘grand corruption’ in the county.

Speaking to this reporter on Tuesday, Nyaribo ruled out possibilities of contesting the gubernatorial seat moments after being linked to the lucrative position and vowed to support a different candidate.

“I am not going for gubernatorial seat contrary to my earlier announcement. I will support a person of integrity in 2017 polls and when that tie comes, I will be ready to make my stand clear to our people,” he said.

“There is a lot of corruption in the county and those behind it are well known. As a Christian, I do not want to be associated with people who are out to loot public resources. My intention is to have a focused county chief and that is the hope by most of Nyamira people,” he added.

When asked whether he will resign from the government which he has persistently termed corrupt, Nyaribo urged EACC and the county assembly to do their job by prosecuting culprits.

“I think it’s the culprits who are supposed to resign. The county assembly should do its job properly. We also have EACC which has received numerous complaints from our people on the state of corruption. They should take responsibility and bring culprits into book,” he said.

Governor John Nyagarama is expected to face stiff competition from World Bank consultant Charles Mochama and former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati.
