The county government of Nyamira faces serious cash crisis following disbandment of Budget and Appropriation Committee.
County speaker Joash Nyamoko had on Friday summoned the house for a special sitting in which members of the committee were accused of performing dismally in the last four years.
The MCAs also shot down supplementary budget for executive claiming that they were not convinced in the manner at which previous allocations were spent.
County Executive Committee for Finance Jones Omwenga concedes that the assembly’s actions could completely paralyse operations in the county.
“We will not be able to pay our employees and contractors including those who furnished the new assembly buildings,” Omwenga told reporters.
He also said dissolving the committee (which was replaced by ad hoc team for investigations) would undermine preparations for country’s strategic plan which is due February 28th 2017.
Nyamoko had also accused Budget Committee chairman James Sabwengi of convening illegal meetings to persuade members to vote in a particular manner, claims which Sabwengi has since denied.
