A family in Nyamusi village, Nyamira County is yet to come to terms following the death of their loved one, whose mutilated body was found dumped near Nyamusi Township.
Elijah Okemwa 41, who till his untimely death, was a banker with KCB Kisumu branch went missing from his home early this month when he was serving a leave.
According to his brother Joel Onsinyo, the deceased had received death threats from anonymous people prior to his death, and they had reported the same at Nyamira Police Station.
“It is unfortunate that my brother died even after having reported to the police about the threats. He was being pursued by unknown people and there was even an attempted carjack on his way from Kisumu towards the end of January,” claimed Onsinyo.
According to his wife Alice Okemwa, the deceased had a construction business in Kisii town and was supposed to meet his business partners, who later on started making desperate calls in search of him.
“I may not be able to know the motive of the death, but he had used a PSV vehicle on the material day and he was supposed to see a friend in Kisii town,” added Onsinyo.
“We learnt about his unavailability when one of his business colleagues called to enquire his whereabouts. This is when the family started searching for him and his decomposing body was found five days later,” said the deceased wife.
Nyamira CID Boss Alfred Kipchirchir on Monday confirmed the incident and urged the family to record statements that may help the police apprehend perpetrators.
