A girl aged 12 years is fighting for her life at a Kapkatet Hospital after consuming poison in North Borabu Nyamira County.
Neighbors said the mother of the girl had bought the poison to spray for pesticides but failed to keep it safe.
"The girl’s mother bought the poison to spray for pesticides in their house. The girl mistook the poison to be a normal drug and decided to consume.
"She complained of stomachache and was rushed to a Kapkatet hospital where she is currently undergoing treatment,” said John Ondoro, a neighbor.
Ondoro urged parents keep drugs safe so that children will not access them.
“Parents need to be more cautious not to keep the drugs in areas where children can access them to avoid unnecessary deaths,” he said.
