Valerie Kerubo, a form four student at Uchuni Girls who needs to undergo an urgent cornea transplant has finally received help from Nyamira County government.
Kerubo's story has been doing rounds on social media with appeals from well-wishers to help her undergo the operation and resume classes in readiness for her final exams later in the year.
And on Thursday, Nyamira County Cabinet secretary for administration Andrew Ombati said Kerubo's matter needs urgent address to help her go back to school soon.
"We did not have to wait for residents to raise the funds because it would take long. The county government has taken up the matter to ensure the girl resumes classes as soon as possible," said Ombati.
He further appealed to well-wishers to help her in whichever way they can. "We are asking well-wishers to come to Valerie's aid. The family has spent a lot on her medication and she lacks a lot for her education," added Ombati.
By the time of filing this story, Valerie had already been moved to Nyamira Level 5 Hospital in readiness to be transferred to Kijabe Hospital for the transplant which must be done before August 31.
