The county government of Nyamira has dismissed claims that administration misused the funds allocated for road repairs in the last financial year.
Members of the county assembly lead by minority leader Jackson Mogusu and chair of the House Finance and Appropriation committee, James Samwengi accused the governor of misappropriation of Sh287 million which was meant for the repairs.
The claims were however denied by the county secretary Eric Ochana who said the monies that have been carried forward to the next financial year are those which were budgeted under the cancelled tenders
“No money has been misappropriated the money was part of the funds to be used for the cancelled tenders and the same money has been carried forward to the same projects,” Ochana said.
“I also urge the people of Nyamira to get the information from our relevant offices and all explanations in order to avoid being fed with information which is not true,” Ochana also added.
