Nyamira County Executive Committee Member in charge of Roads, Transport and Public Works Janet Komenda has said her department has set aside funds to train contractors to ensure quality work.
Addressing journalists on Tuesday morning in her office, Komenda said the department has been forced to allocate the funds for the programme to ensure better service delivery.
"In this year's budget, we have set aside funds to training contractors so they can understand what is required for them when they are awarded tenders," said Komenda.
The county minister further said her department has been forced to blacklist some contractors due to poor workmanship exhibited in their projects.
"There are a few contractors who have been blacklisted especially those working on buildings and roads for doing shoddy work," she added.
