Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama Thursday commissioned the Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) programme learning and teaching equipment.
Speaking during the event at the County Assembly grounds, Nyagarama said his administration was keen to improve ECDE in line with Kenya's Vision 2030.
"Nyamira County Government recognises the importance of Early Childhood Education and the vital role it plays in the realisation of Millennium Development Goals and Kenya’s Vision 2030," the governor said on Thursday.
"As a county, we have demonstrated foresight and leadership in pre-primary education by identifying the gaps therein and stepping up to fill them. Some of these gaps include inadequate infrastructure and limited human and material resource among others," he added.
According to the governor, the county has constructed one ECDE classroom in each of the 20 wards in the County.
In addition, we have equipped all these 20 centres with latrines and water tanks for safe drinking water.
