Nyagarama has previously faced accusations from a section of residents for favouring people close him by reportedly absorbing them to top county jobs.

In a rare interview with reporters on Thursday, the county boss dismissed the allegations as ‘sheer’ propaganda and urged residents to allow him to execute his role as governor.

“I have heard such allegations (favouring family friends) before but when I try to investigate, I have never seen such a thing in the county government. I can’t even recall a close person to me who works around,” he said.

“Some of this information is misleading and it’s just sheer propaganda. We should learn to avoid politicising even employment. It’s important sometimes for people to give me time to perform my duties without necessarily subjecting me to endless intrigues,” he said.

According to him, employment in the county was a constitutional exercise of the County Public Service Board (CPSB) which he said was working independently.

“Employment is done by the CPSB which I am not part of. I have never even imagined influencing them because it’s an independent body,” he said.
