The county government of Nyamira has again given a stern warning to contractors over shoddy work, threatening to blacklist companies that may be found culpable of defrauding taxpayers' money.
Speaking on Monday in his office, Governor John Nyagarama raised concerns on the quality of the projects that have already been done and their corresponding prices as paid by the county government.
Nyagarama said his office will undertake an audit of some of the projects that have been done to make an evaluation whether they are worth the amount that was paid for.
“Contractors must ensure they offer quality services to the clients for this matter the county government. We will soon carry out an audit on the viability of some of the projects before we make a decision of who should remain and who should be kicked out,” he said.
He said some of the projects have been controversial making the reputation of the county leadership come under scrutiny in the name of corruption.
“My government has been under immense criticism over what I really don’t know. But I can no longer carry the burden of people who don’t want to work,” he said.
This could be a major step towards fighting corruption and several officials who authenticated the projects before payment may find themselves in the hot soup after the audit is carried out since a number of residents have raised a concern over the quality of projects launched and their corresponding worth.
