Governor John Nyagarama and his deputy Amos Nyaribo’s pre-election pledge of equitable distribution of power will be tested when they recruit 23 senior officials whose positions have been advertised.
An advertisement has been run in the local dailies publicizing positions of county executive committee members (ECMs), chief officers (CCOs), a county secretary (CS) and members of the County Public Service Board (CPSB).
Prior to 2017’s general election, Nyagarama and his deputy signed a pre-election pact that could see them share the cabinet slots equally through consultations and mutual agreements.
This could now mean that if the agreement is anything to go by, the 10 each slots for ECMs and CCOs will be divided equally to sustain their ‘marriage’.
This pact may face hurdles in implementation in case the other four national assembly legislators from the county demand a share of the cake in the county government.
The MPs made an appearance during the inaugural ceremony on August 18, this year, where they challenged the governor to sack previous officials implicated in graft.
Four CECs and two chief officers were implicated in corrupt dealings that saw them step aside for investigations.
