Three gubernatorial aspirants from Nyamira County are set to meet on Tuesday to decide the way forward and agree on probable ways of supporting a single candidate to challenge the incumbent, John Nyagarama.
Led by former Kitutu Masaba MP Mwancha Okioma on Monday, the aspirants mainly selected from Kitutu Masaba constituency, the largest of the four constituencies, said the move will emphasise unity among residents of Nyamira besides joining hands to topple the regime which has been associated with corrupt deals.
Mr Mwancha said the meeting will also identify the party that the main candidate will contest, besides putting early strategies of winning the hearts of electorates.
“As aspirants of the gubernatorial seat, we have settled to back a single candidate to challenge the incumbent basically because we come from the same constituency. What is important here is to rescue the people of Nyamira from mega corruption and that is what we are ready to do,” he said.
Mwancha further urged the incumbent governor, John Nyagarama, to crack a whip on corrupt officers besides lauding the recent efforts by the county assembly to adopt a report of sacking officials who were implicated in the auditor general’s report.
“The governor must improvise ways of dealing with corrupt individuals and this is the right time. We want to see more people sacked because this is about the public funds,” added Mr Evans Misati.
The three include Evans Misati, Mwancha Okioma and Charles Mochama and they had all finished in the third, fourth and second positions respectively in the last general election.
